Dear Mr. Cox and Mrs. Suman,
A while back I wrote to Mr. Suman saying how impressed my family was on our cruise last year on the Norwegian Sun. One of our fondest memories was of Roger Hernandez. He is a great entertainer and we loved his music and his sense of humor. As life-long New Yorkers and great fans of Billy Joel, listening to him play and sing was being able to sit right at the piano with "The Piano Man" himself. We bought his CD and play it often. Recently we were out for dinner when one of the songs from his CD came on (not Billy Joel, but a Harry Chapin song) and my young son said "MOM LISTEN!!!! IT'S ROGER!!!!!" And back then when I wrote, and asked if there was any way of getting Roger on the Dawn for this summer, since we'd book another cruise for the beginning July on the Dawn.
We now find out that he may not be on the Dawn but on the Norway. I don't know much about the Norway, and am sure it is a wonderful ship, but to take a man with his talent and his appeal that a New York group would ADORE, is a waste of talent!!!!!
Each summer my husband's family has a "family reunion vacation" and after our vacation last year, we've been working on the reunion on the Dawn. My husband has a HUGE IRISH CATHOLIC FAMILY...some reunions were small and only about 35 of us could make it, where others larger and around 95 of us could be together.....and if you're not familiar with the Irish...they like their music and they like their beer! We would joke about how "Whatever we do during the day, let's make sure we meet in the evenings at Roger's piano!"
I might also like to mention that my husband has a lot of contacts from people he works with....people who are booking cruises cause they don't want to fly and want to cruise out of NY Harbor. One recently took a cruise and said "The Dawn was spectacular, but I really would have liked to have heard that Roger Hernandez you've spoken so highly of."
As I am sure you're aware, the best advertising is word of mouth and we have done nothing but rave about our cruise last year AND ROGER! This is not to say anything against your other entertainment....but he was a cut above. And like I said before, he possesses a "New York savvy" charm, and sense of humor that I truly feel would be wasted on the Norway. GIVE HIM TO US! GIVE HIM TO NEW YORK!!!!! Nothing against cruises with classes on line dancing, but up north, we're more interested in what he possesses than a group from down south might enjoy!
I would hope my request in not falling on deaf ears. I don't make a habit about writing to or about entertainers, but I don't consider Roger Hernandez just any entertainer!
Thanking you in advance for your kind consideration and attention, I remain,
Very truly yours,
Colleen Gilmartin Oceanside, New York
